Celebration of Diversity 2002

The American culture, more than any other, has been defined by its diversity. The richness of our lives comes in direct proportion to our ability to accept, understand, and grow from the many different cultures, races, religions and human conditions that surround us.

While Southeast Michigan is amazingly diverse, many of our communities, as so definitively illustrated by the recent Detroit News series on segregation, are not.

Three Celebration of Diversity events offer adults, high school students and families an opportunity to learn about other cultures, points of view, and reflect on our various biases and predispositions.

The City of Southfield has proudly committed itself to welcoming, supporting, and celebrating its diversity in all ways. We believe that our differences are to be embraced and understood. We believe that it is through our diversity that we are able to reach our personal and professional potential.

In support of that commitment, the Southfield Community Foundation is proud to offer it's third annual Celebration of Diversity. We invite your participation as sponsor and attendee in one or more of the Celebration events.
